Supreme Court Denies Review in AI Authorship Case

The Supreme Court has declined to review a lower court opinion that affirmed the US Copyright Office requirement of human authorship to be eligible for copyright protection.

The case involved a piece of visual art created entirely by an AI system. The computer scientist did not edit or alter the final AI-generated image. The AI system was listed as the sole author.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT…as of now, AI-generated materials are not eligible for US copyright protection.
